Cave Baby’s lucky - he lives inside a cave

With his mum (who’s good at painting)

And his dad (who’s very brave)

洞穴宝宝很幸运——他住在一个洞穴里

和他一起的还有妈妈（她擅长画画）

以及爸爸（他很勇敢）

And a saber-toothed tiger,

a hyena and a hare

And a grey woolly mammoth, and a big brown bear.

还有一只剑齿虎，

一只鬣狗以及一只野兔

还有一只灰色毛绒绒的猛犸象，以及一只大棕熊。

Cave Baby’s lonely. Nobody will play.

Dad is busy being brave. Mum says, “Keep away.”

洞穴宝宝很孤单。没人和他玩。

爸爸正忙着勇敢。而妈妈说，“走开。”

Everything is boring…

Then suddenly it’s not,

For in a corner of the cave he finds a brush and pot.

一切都太无聊了……

突然，事情有了转机，

在洞穴一角，他发现一把刷子以及一个桶。

Spots on the hyena!

Stripes on the hare!

Stars on the tiger!

Squiggles on the bear!

Zigzags on the mammoth!

This is lots of fun…

鬣狗身上的斑点！

野兔身上的条纹！

老虎身上的星星！

熊身上的曲线！

猛犸象身上的之字形线条！

真是太有趣了……

But Mum and Dad are furious,

and say, “Look what he’s done!”

Cave Mum fetches water. She mutters and she swipes.

No more spots and squiggles!

No more stars and stripes!

然而爸爸妈妈发怒了，

他们说，“看看他都干了什么！”

洞穴妈妈拿来水，一边嘟囔一边擦拭。

把斑点和曲线擦掉！

把星星和条纹擦掉！

Cave Dad wags his finger.

“If you don’t take care,

A mammoth’s going to throw you to the big brown bear!”

洞穴爸爸摆动着手指。

“如果你不小心一点，

猛犸象就会把你丢给大棕熊！”

Cave Baby’s restless. He’s feeling wide awake.

A long grey trunk comes sneaking in,

all wiggly like a snake.

洞穴宝宝忐忑难安。他一点都睡不着。

这时，一个长长的、灰色的象鼻悄悄钻进了屋，

弯弯曲曲就像蛇。

“Where are you taking me?

Where, tell me where?

Are you going to throw me to the big brown bear?”

“你会把我带去哪里？

哪里，告诉我到底是哪里？

你是不是要把我扔给大棕熊？”

Stripes in the forest!

A tiger’s lurking there.

“Don’t throw me to the tiger or

森林里闪过条纹！

是有一只老虎正潜行！

“请不要把我扔给老虎或

the big brown bear!”

把我扔给大棕熊！”

Crashing in the bushes!

A hare is leaping there.

Maybe he’s escaping from

撞进草丛！

一只野兔从那跃起。

也许他正在逃脱

the big brown bear!

大棕熊！

A cackle in the bracken!

A hyena’s laughing there.

蕨菜丛中传来一些咯咯声！

一只鬣狗正在那里大笑。

Has he heard a joke about the big brown bear?

他是不是听到了关于大棕熊的笑话？

A cave in the hillside!

“I wonder who lives there?

I hope it’s not… Don’t let it be… the big brown bear!”

山边有个洞穴！

“我很好奇谁住在那里？

我希望不是……千万不要是……大棕熊！”

The cave is bright with moonlight.

The walls are plain and bare.

Snoring in the shadows!

Someone’s sleeping there.

Cave Baby’s worried. He doesn’t understand…

Until the woolly mammoth pops a paintbrush in his hand.

洞穴里洒满明亮月光。

墙面很裸素。

阴影中传来打鼾声！

有人在那里睡觉。

洞穴宝宝很担心。他不明白……

直到，毛绒绒的猛犸象手中递来一只画刷。

A five-legged tiger!

A long curly hare!

Horns on a hyena!

A beard on a bear!

A moustache on a mammoth!

This is lots of fun!

五条腿的老虎！

毛发又长又卷曲的野兔！

鬣狗长出了角！

熊长出了胡子！

猛犸象长出了小胡须！

太有趣了！

Then the mammoth wakes his family

And says, “Look what he’s done!”

接着，猛犸象叫醒他的家人

并说道，“看看他干了什么！”

And they rollick and they frolic,

they trumpet and they crash,

they wade into the water.

They roll and romp and splash.

他们一起嬉闹，一起欢乐，

他们吼叫着，撞来撞去，

并进入水中，

打滚，跳闹，拍水。

They shake the baby by the hand,

Then lift their trunks and wave

As the mammoth picks him up again and takes him to his cave.

他们和洞穴宝宝握手，

然后举起象鼻挥舞，

直到猛犸象又再次来接宝宝，并带他回到洞穴。

Cave Baby’s happy.

He’s fast asleep in bed.

He dreams about a tiger with stripes of pink and red,

And a grass-green hyena, and a sky-blue hare,

And a moon-yellow mammoth…and a small brown bear.

洞穴宝宝很开心。

他在床上很快入睡了。

梦里有粉色和红色条纹的老虎，

有草绿色的鬣狗，有天空蓝的野兔，

以及月亮黄的猛犸象……

还有，一只小小的棕熊。
